Kitchens Are Where the Family Become One

posted on 17 May 2012 in Construction and Industrial

Have you ever noticed that when Mom is in the kitchen that everyone seems to pile in? Kitchens seem more of a communal area. The living room seems less so these days. Oh, I've invested in all sorts of furniture for my living room - entertainment system with one of those wooden TV stands, surround sound, the works. But you can't beat human conversation! In the kitchen, we talk more. Whether we are trying to see what is for dinner, have a discussion or even help mom actually do the dishes, the kitchen is where it's at. My kitchen has become the place for family meetings and discussions, since it is the one place that I can stand still enough to listen to my kids as they are coming and going constantly. This is why I would love to add a bar and stools to my kitchen. I also would like to remodel the entire kitchen. My stove, microwave, dishwasher and cabinets look like they came directly from the 1950's... (Oh wait, they did!) Either way, I would love to have a two toned kitchen. Granite counter tops, cabinets where the handles were not falling off and drawers that opened and closed without having to slam them. One of the main things that I am interested in changing is adding a bar and stools. I think it would be nice to have a place where my kids can sit down and converse with me, as well as, do their homework. It makes it easier to have them in the same room as me, while I tend to the things that I need to get done. I believe that the kitchen has become a place where family communicates and comes together, even if the main source is food. So, the next adventure at my house will be... remodeling our kitchen! My husband knows how to operate diamond blades and other tools, so he may be able to work on this project, or get some of his construction pals to help out.

How to Open an Email Account on Hotmail

posted on 10 May 2012 in Technology

One of the largest companies in the camera-film manufacturing industry, Kodak, recently filed for bankruptcy. The reason for this was simple, people had gone digital and were no longer purchasing camera-films. However, the camera-film manufacturing industry was not the only one negatively affected by the digitization of the world. Today, sending letter is a task that is regarded by many as ancient, old-fashioned, and primitive. Hence, post offices have today been discarded to the dustbin of history. Today many people communicate with each other through the internet, as it is easier than sending letters. An email will take seconds to reach the recipient while a letter may take months. There are numerous sites where one can get an email address, which include G-mail, yahoo mail, and Hotmail. The latter is the most popular of the three. There is only one way that one can get Hotmail account. The first step when seeking to create a hot mail account, there is a form that one has to fill in. Unlike chart rooms, accounts where one can omit some information, persons seeking to acquire a Hotmail email address have to put all information required. This information may include, personal information, work and school information and postal addresses.

Reforming Our System and Minds for a Better Office Life

posted on 9 May 2012 in Business and Finance

Working is an essential part of our lives because it provides us with the required resources for spending and providing ourselves with the necessities of life. Office life has its own rights and wrongs in itself. An uneventful and stagnant office life makes us lazy and noncompetitive with the passage of time and where there is a lot of competition we naturally tend to perform more and effectively. What our offices lack is a thorough system which could ensure a constant outcome from a worker without over burdening and threatening his or her position as a worker. Job security in itself is a big motivation to help make our workplaces a better places to be at. Apart from the system we need to change ourselves at a personal level. Understanding our own domains well enough and not interfering into other people domains can make our offices a pretty convenient place to be at. We tend to be intrusive at many levels and capacities at our offices which is totally unnecessary at times. Not even reforming our system is required but also reforming of our thinking and attitudes is also required so that we could yield the maximum out of ourselves and our system. I learnt so much from my prince2 foundation exam and I wanted to share just some of the things I learned.

When a Roof Looks More Like a Work of Art

posted on 3 May 2012 in Construction and Industrial

With the building techniques that some contractors now have you can have a roof that looks like a work of art - from fibreglass roofing to green and even warm roofing. There's also another technique - by using structural decking you can create something unique since it can be bent and formed to what you need. It also comes in different colors and shades so if you want a checker board roof you can have it by just mixing the different colors. If you are root like the Japanese that were structural decking it can be bent and form to that like a Japanese roof and again you could make a very colorful. When you're in the steps of designing their new building you could always look in the many different architectural magazines to get ideas and then take them to your architect to add to your building on blueprints. With a more modern types of roofing materials you can design most anything now to make your building stand out and be unique. This is just some of the few things that they have designed to let you express yourself more about your business in the building it will be in.

Steam Punk Mechanisms and Gizmos

posted on 2 May 2012 in Home and Garden

It's not always easy to define steam punk but it is quite evident when you see a steam punk object. It is more a design style than a mechanical genre, but this style is based on the wonderful contraptions, literature, mechanical inventions and general outlook from the pre-electric era. The very name 'steam punk' evokes the era of steam and all of the various creative energy that went into the inventions of the day.

Steam punk and the imagery behind it can include anything from recreated models of clocks, timepieces, anything with exposed gear wheels, gear cogs, flying machines and steam propulsion. The graphic images can often include line drawings and illustrations of pilots from the bi-plane era, wearing goggles and flying jackets, inventors and scientists with test tubes and bunsen burners, hot air balloons with exposed propellers and steam powered motors, clocks with exposed mechanisms, often using brass, copper and cast iron, as opposed to the more familiar technology we are used to seeing today. Steampunk shows fabulous examples of past gone engineering.

Importance of Yoga Exercises for Mental Relaxation

posted on 24 April 2012 in Health and Beauty

Relaxation is a need in this life. Depending on how much we get involved in a day at work or even in schools, we need to take some time to relax and once in a while, to take some Yoga Exercise for proper and effective relaxation. Nothing beats Yoga when it comes to mental relaxation. I remember one time when I was working for two companies at the same time because I needed so much money to keep up with my mortgage, I had to take some Yoga exercise every weekend to prevent burn out at work. This helped me so much until my boss in one of the companies realized how hard I was working and how badly I needed a promotion and he granted me the promotion. I never worked in two companies since then but I have never stopped my relaxation exercises. It is also believed that Yoga improves a persons level of concentration by a great percentage. This is the more reason why you need such exercises at least once or twice in a month in order to offload and also to improve your attention levels.

Why There is No Contact Number for Blackberry

posted on 18 April 2012 in Technology

The popularity of smart phones has increased considerably since their introduction in to the mobile phone market. One of the most popular and demanded Smartphone is the Canadian blackberry. The Canadian electronics company Research in motion manufactures the latter phones. Unlike a majority of other smart phones, blackberry has deviated from using the popular touch screen technology. To make up for this, blackberry phones have a wide array of instant messaging features, with the most popular being blackberry messenger. Contrary to what you may think, there is no special contact blackberry number to contact blackberry with. In fact, you cannot contact blackberry, as it is just a product. Hence, when experiencing problems with your blackberry you need to contact Research in motion (RIM). The latter company has been ranked sixth on the list of the worlds most popular device makers. As of 2011, blackberry accounted for 3 % of the total mobile devices sales worldwide. Blackberry had over seventy million subscribers worldwide, while its internet services were available in over ninety-one nations of the world.

Gifts: Read It, Watch It, Love It

posted on 15 April 2012 in Fashion

One of my favorite gifts to give a person is a combination book and movie. For example, I just gave me friend the book "The Secret Life of Bee's" and the movie "The Secret Life of Bee's." This is a very unique gift that can be great for a child (ex: Whinnie the Pooh books and movies), young adults (The Twilight Series) or adults. This gift idea can be great for holidays, birthdays or most any random occassion. Also, most places that sell movies, sell books and vice-versa, such as Barnes and Nobel. Thus, this is a one-stop-shopping gift also. I have never received a complaint and would love to receive this as a gift myself. In the next few months, The Hunger Games series will be very popular, so as the movies are released, buy the book, and there's a gift! And for all those bad wrappers out there, books and movies are easy to wrap or can fit into a small gift bag! Failing that, for my female friends, I do like to sometimes make jewellery for them with my jewellery findings and supplies.

On Changing the Upstairs to the Downstairs!

posted on 11 April 2012 in Home and Garden

When I think of what I could change about my house, straight away I think, Why can't I have my upstairs moved downstairs and my downstairs to upstairs like an inside out scenario. The idea of having my sitting and dining rooms and kitchen upstairs with my bedroom and stuff downstairs would be awesome. I would also like to change my bathrooms to have fitted steamrooms, and add some fusion glass panels to my staircase, but I ain't a millionaire so it will never happen. If in a more realistic light, I was to change one thing it would have to be the transformation of my house to solar energy to reduce my bills in the long run. I think that is a realistic goal to set as this kind of energy source is becoming easier to install into the average home these days. Yes the initial costs are fairly high, but you get that paid back in lower bills over time.

How You Can Go About IndustrialWall Lighting

posted on 10 April 2012 in Construction and Industrial

Industrial lighting is inevitable and infinite and the choice of lighting is important if one wants desirable results. The lighting system should be safe. By safety it should not endanger the lives of those who will be using it. It should be efficient so as to save on the energy consumption and cost. IndustrialWall lighting should be energy friendly it should not consume a lot of energy and should apply some conservation feature. It is essential to light up the walls in industries so as to prevent accidents from occurring. Dark walls are hazardous and one should be wary of them. When lighting your wall you should use a durable lighting system that would not disappoint you. Buy the lights from a genuine shop if you want quality. They should have energy saving bulbs to save you from paying so much when you do little with the energy that you are paying for. Get a qualified electrician to do the wiring for you. The person should have knowledge about lighting walls and to fix the lights.

About My Stylish High-Heel Shoe Addiction

posted on 5 April 2012 in Fashion

I really love my high heel shoes. I have every color you can imagine and so many styles. In my closet there are pumps, stilettos, wedges, sandals, and some platforms for when I’m feeling groovy. With so many outfits in my closet, it only makes sense to have at least one pair for each one. I have a pair of purple pumps to go with my zebra print skirt and a pair of green crush velvet ones to go with my gold and green dress. Six months ago I bought some black thigh-high boots with a four inch heel to go with my orange mini skirt. My sister borrows some of my shoes sometimes: but only if she puts up some sort of collateral first. She always seems to know when I've been visiting the shoe shops and asks me what I might have (or not have bought). I might one day design my own shoes that way I can save money wearing my own designs. Maybe open my own store with them.

The New Style Phones That Works on the 3G Network

posted on 4 April 2012 in Technology

People used to think that the 3G network meant it might be on a different frequency or wavelength but actually the 3G means that the phone and the company must meet certain standards. Having a ball like that only means that the provider must meet certain standards in order for the phone to work. You said now there are lot of 3gPhones on the market, the 3G stands for third generation. You actually can find now a couple of different providers that have went to the 4G or fourth generation. When you are on a 3G or 4G phones means that Has to meet certain standards not only for the cell phones but also for Internet, SMS and IM. Most people now their phones are more than just a cell phone it is their portable computer, their address books and so many different other business applications. If you will notice a lot of different providers now have merged trying to make their network the largest networks of America the way it is going we have went from six separate providers now down to approximately 4 different providers and even some of your prepaid phones is using other networks such as straight talk is owned by track phone that uses the Verizon network.

My 8 Year's Experience of Using LinkedIn

posted on 3 April 2012 in Arts and Entertainment

I began using LinkedIn in 2003. For the first several months I would check now and then my network to see if any of my friends, colleagues, acquaintances or business partners joined the network. So after two-three years my LinkedIn network reflected quite well my real-life network. From the very begining I linked only to the people I have met - either in the real world, but also allowed the long-term contacts over the net. This works, as I am comfortable with forwarding requests from any of my connections and I could tell at least a few words about every person of my 450+ connections. I've also found good service providers on the network too - a creative design agency being most recent find. I must admit that LinkedIn was also a channel for headhunters and I was contacted by them on a few occasions. However, this is not as frequent, as it used to be 5-6 years ago. I have mixed experience with groups. While some groups bring a good platform to communicate with a bunch of friends or to get some insightful ideas, many other are dead or even worse: very active but irrelevant to myself due to e.g. geography (such as when I am in the alumni group of my ex-corporate employer, but all the people who talk on the group are people from the different continent). Finally, LinkedIn is a great place to collect recommendations from your managers and other people one has worked with.

Email Marketing Offers Opportunities to Target and Reach Potential, Actively-Interested Consumers

posted on 2 April 2012 in Internet Related

Email marketing is an ideal way to stay in touch with current and potential consumers of your product or service. Most email marketing solutions offer you the opportunity to organize your contacts by lists, which gives you the ability to target your communications. For example, you could create a list for potential customers (folks who haven't bought anything from your company yet), and send them introductory rate offers, while making sure you don't send that information to people who have already purchased from you, who would not find such first-time offers useful. Using email marketing is especially useful when you follow the best accepted practices of the industry, specifically opt-in email lists. If you simply buy lists of email addresses, your communications will be marked as spam most people strongly dislike receiving unsolicited advertisements in their inboxes. However, if you encourage people surfing your website or entering your stores to sign up for your email newsletter, you will be reaching only people who have specifically asked to receive communications from you, and are hence much more likely to open the emails that you send.

On Scarves and How Addicted I Am to Them

posted on 1 April 2012 in Fashion

I am completely addicted to scarves of any size and color. I started collecting them around 10 years ago and have not stopped it since. Every time I travel abroad, at least one new one comes back with me as an addition to the family, which includes a collection of chunky necklaces and earrings. Why should I stop? I totally adore them, they help you put a great outfit by adding a touch of color and they cheer your outfit up when you do not know what to wear other than black. Scarves are definitely my go-to fashion item, especially because most of my ensembles are in fact black, so a little touch of color will never do you wrong. Moreover, I do not lend my scarves to friends. They are most precious to me, as many of them remind me of the places I have visited in the past. They are my Gollum's ring!

No sweat Free Cake Decorating Ideas

posted on 27 March 2012 in Food and Drink

My friend and I both wanted to try to make our own cakes. We thought it would be useful especially because we both have kids who really love cake. Aside from that, it would also be cool to bake cakes for the family during special occasions. We prepared everything we needed and decided to start our baking agenda. I have to admit that I never thought that baking would be this fun.

There were actually free CakeDecoratingIdeasFree.com that help us get through baking and decorating the cake. The site gives tips and techniques for our cakes. The free cake decorating ideas were indeed really useful. All we need to do is to read the articles or play the videos in order to know if we are on the right track. If there is something we did not understand we can always replay the video or read the tips one more time. After a few hours, we finally succeeded in baking and decorating our own cakes.

A Nyan Cat Costume for a Fancy Dress Party

posted on 25 March 2012 in Fashion

If I was to be invited to a fancy party right now I would dress up as everyone's favorite internet meme - Nyan Cat! Now, I know what you're thinking you probably feel that Nyan Cat's popularity has waned and it is no longer a hip costume choice but I would beg to disagree. Nyan Cat has an instantly recognizable theme song (which you could blare from your phone's speakers as you wander the party) and a costume for this character could be created with less than $10. All you need for a costume would be: - a rainbow flag (like the kind seen in Gay Pride Parades) - Cat ears - 2 Tan-colored poster board - Purple/pink construction paper You can find most of these items at your local dollar store. All you have to do is put lay the pink construction paper on the tan poster board (to make it look like a Pop Tart) and strap that poster board to your chest. Then hook the flag around your shoulders and put on your cat ears and you're good to go!

Jeans: Still My Favorite Thing to Wear

posted on 24 March 2012 in Fashion

You would think with the constant changing of styles and accessories, we would long be done with our love for blue jeans. I, however, am more in love with my jeans than ever before. For me, jeans have become more flattering, comfortable, and versatile. I have learned how to shop for the best fitting jeans and have learned how to successfully make them work in just about every situation. I can wear jeans to work, on dates, or just to lounge around. They always look good. What could beat that? T-shirts, shoes, and jewelry are a fun way to throw a splash of color into my wardrobe - and I particularly love wearing my Annie Haak jewellery - but nothing beats a good pair of jeans. If I had to wear only one fashion item everyday for the rest of my life, it would be my blue jeans. There is nothing I love more. If you don't already have a good pair of jeans, or several good pairs, I would highly recommend you invest in them. With jeans, you get what you pay for. A $20 pair of jeans is not nearly as good as a $100 pair of jeans. When you are ready to make the investment, try on several pairs for inexpensive to very expensive. You will see the difference. It is much better to invest in one awesome pair of jeans rather than three or four cheap pairs. Good quality jeans can last a long time, as long as you take good care of them. You can enjoy a good pair of jeans for years to come. I know I love mine.

It is True Shoes Do Make The Man

posted on 20 March 2012 in Fashion

Fashion isn't just for women. My wife loves her pink handbags and other fashion accessories, but as a man, I love fashion too. A pair of shoes can speak louder than words. If you chose to wear dirty sneakers it communicates that you do not really care about your experience or you are engaging in recreational activity. When I was at the mall last winter the local Italian clothing store was having a sale on shoes. Since I have large feet it is hard to find properly fitting shoes, especially nice Italian leather loafers. Anyways I found these black leather shoes in my size and I feel in love with them from the get go. Usually formal Italian shoes are tight fitting and not comfortable but these shoes make me feel like I was walking on a cloud. On top of that they go well will any outfit. When I’m going out with friends to the pub I wear them with a pair of jeans and a button up shirt and I look great. Likewise they look great in formal attire with a blazer and a pair of black slacks.
